CONTINOUS leaves out the U after IN.

Why people write CONTINOUS

Some letters are barely said, or not said at all, in everyday speech (the N in government, the P in pumpkin), so they drop out when the word is written as it sounds.

Spell the word out loud the slow way, exaggerating every letter ("govern-ment", "pump-kin"), and the missing letter comes back.

How often CONTINUOUS is misspelled

In the web pages Google counted for its trillion-word corpus (Peter Norvig's word counts), CONTINOUS appears 43 times for every 1,000 CONTINUOUS, about once for every 23 correct uses.

Is CONTINOUS a word?

No. CONTINOUS is not in NWL2023, Collins Scrabble Words or ENABLE, the word lists Scrabble and other word games use, so no word game accepts it. CONTINUOUS is in all three and scores 12 points in Scrabble before bonus squares.

What continuous means

adjective: Continuing in time or space without interruption.
