Ideas for the classroom

  • Spelling practice with a point. Hand out "What's your word worth?" with this week's list. Students who finish early hunt for a word worth exactly 10.
  • First week of school. "What's your name worth?" gets everyone talking, and the class graph turns it into a data lesson.
  • Math centers. "Score the states" is addition practice with a map twist, and the answer key is on page 2.
  • Word nerd corner. Pin the 20 facts sheet next to the dictionary, or read one fact a day.
  • Game club. Put the two-letter words sheet and a score sheet on every table.

Print notes

  • US Letter size. They also print on A4 with your printer's "fit to page" setting.
  • Designed for black-and-white printing; the light tile shading prints as grey.
  • Free for classroom, library, club and home use. If you share them online, please link to this page.
  • The word facts use NWL2023, the North American tournament word list. More figures are on our word list statistics page.
